Geothermal project “Salamander-1” was full steam ahead during a well opening visit in the Penola district on Friday where Federal Member for Barker, Patrick Secker got to see first hand how the technology works. “The Penola Project is the largest measured resource of this type in Australia and I had the opportunity to see for myself how geothermal technology works and it is no wonder it is emerging as a clean energy for our future, “Mr Secker said. The Penola Project is run by Panax Geothermal, a relatively new organisation that is ranked number 1 in Measured Geothermal Resources and is a pioneer in HAS geothermal resources in Australia. “Geothermal energy is a promising, zero emissions technology that offers base load power 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and this particular project is well positioned with the capacity to supply 11,000 PJ, with 1,000 PJ sufficient for 100 MW power station for 30 years that is a substantial amount of power.” “I was impressed with the site today and the project is a great step towards zero emissions power for Australia and is also great for Barker,” concluded Mr Secker.
